Quote of the week

I've got you on loudspeaker, but I still have to hold the phone up to my ear so it's a bit of an oxymoron...

Never Let Me Go.

Possibly the most painful, beautiful and heartbreaking film I have ever seen.

I couldn't even breathe it was so beautiful, and I don't even know that much about cinematography and everything. I read somewhere that the director deliberately didn't use any primary colours in the entire movie, which gives it this beautifully honest quality and makes my heart ache at how wonderfully artistic it is. And the light, oh the light. In this one scene where young Cathy is sitting on her bed by herself, it's so amazing. She looks like an angel. The whole film kind of has the same feel to it as one of those old brown world maps. Please, please watch it, but read and understand the storyline/book first, because then you won't be distracted constantly wondering wts is going on, and you'll pick up on the little details better.

Please excuse all the spamming of my blog today but I just had to share this movie with someone, and when I tried talking about the pretty lighting and gushing about the genius behind the colour scheme at lunch today, everyone laughed at me and gave me that "this is really awkward because you're a freak shut up before we all leave and sit at another table" look that I seem to be getting a lot recently. Oh well, at least I have tumblr.
WOW my life has reached a new low today.

Holy Jesus God they were amazing yesterday at Groovin. Definitely the highlight of my day, even though they played really early. dsjdbfhsj! The lead singer, Hayley Mary, is actually incredible and also super adorable. Oh my gosh you should have been there. If you guys ever get the chance to see them please go, and take me with you! The only drawback was all the forkheads in the crowd yelling out "MACE SPRAY! MACE SPRAY!" in between all her songs. Seriously :| Just enjoy the music.

Megan Washington was cute as always, loved her set, but I think because it's the second time I've seen her-and because it wasn't a small gig like last time- it didn't seem AS amazing. The wombats were so much fun, although they neglected to play Patricia (which is completely understandable but frustrating all the same). Cut Copy were actually a little disappointing but I was happy they popped 'Saturdays' into their set. Bliss n Eso will never be as good as the time they played at Pyramid, but they did eye of the storm so I was loving it. It's probably my favourite song they've done, and not just for the Angus and Julia part.

I took my holga and managed to get some pics, so fingers crossed they turn out ok when I get them developed. In July. I know, July, don't even.

Oh my god the funniest thing happened yesterday; we were waiting for Nicola's sister, Cristina, to text us when she was going to be walking past so we could walk to the festival with her. Anyway, she messaged us and said that she had found someone to give us a lift so we needed to be out the front in 5 minutes. Frantically, we filled our snap lock bags with vodka and shoved them in our clothes every which where and sprinted out the front (I couldn't understand why everyone was screaming to hurry up) and on her front lawn was a freaking bus packed full of people! We climbed on this bus, and I swear the guy was either drunk or had not driven a bus before because he was electing to go over the roundabouts instead of around them, we went up on almost every curb possible, and I am pretty certain we backed into a tree at one point trying to turn around in a court after picking someone up hahaha. Meanwhile, snap lock bags were leaking like crazy, and so my bra was becoming increasingly soaked with vodka. Such a depressing and helpless situation to be in. We got there in the end, I still don't know what the whole party bus thing was, but we loved it!

I found a wallet on the ground in the mosh pit with 200 bucks in it. We handed it in, totally being good samaritans and all, but the weirdest thing was that I didn't even think twice about it. If you had asked me what I would do in that situation, I would have said 'handed it in' but deep down would be thinking about taking the money. It was weird though, because actually at the time I did not want to have someone else's money that I would have pretty much just taken. We are hoping that some good karma comes our way, or that the guy gets his wallet and money back without the police taking it. That would shit me.

Oh well, on a happier note; here are some photos from yesterday :)
